Contra Costa County District III Supervisor Mary Nejedly Piepho now has seven Alamo residents to provide a voice for Alamo and its community through the newly-formed Municipal Advisory Council (MAC). The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the creation and appointment of the seven MAC members in October 2009, and we were officially sworn in at our first meeting on December 15, 2009.
With me as Chair, Nancy Dommes, Vice-Chair, Ed Best, Michael McDonald, Janet Miller Evans, David Barclay, and Steve Mick, we comprise the Alamo MAC leadership. Each of us provides a passionate and inspiring voice to support the Alamo community. Because we have strong roots in Alamo and are deeply involved in community affairs, our participation in the MAC will give Alamo a strong voice to the Board of Supervisors.
The Alamo MAC provides a forum where information about land use, transportation, traffic, public safety, parks and recreation and other issues is shared and discussed with Alamo residents. Our meetings provide the community with a forum to express their viewpoints regarding issues and concerns that are important to Alamo. We will make recommendations on the community’s behalf to Supervisor Piepho about issues that are important to Alamo.
As a means to insure a focused voice and conduit between Alamo and the County, the MAC was formed following Alamo’s recent unsuccessful incorporation effort. Supervisor Piepho has outlined to her constituents that a MAC will centralize community functions, simplify operations and streamline the process of overseeing and reviewing local issues of concern to Alamo.
The Alamo MAC meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Hap Magee Ranch Park in Alamo. Our meeting agendas are posted at Supervisor Piepho’s office (309 Diablo Road, Danville), Livorna Park and at Andrew H. Young Memorial Park (3000 Danville Boulevard, Alamo) community bulletin board. Agendas are also available at www.alamore.org. All Alamo residents are invited, and we encourage the community to attend and participate.
