Sharing style ideas, inspiration, and/or recommendations for what to wear feels a little strange with all that is going on in the world. Everything is uncertain. Is clothing really something to discuss? Does clothing really matter considering the state of how things are going?
While what we wear does not really matter in the grand scheme of things; it does feel nice to put some effort in. Taking the time to wear things that make us feel put together does mean something for our well being. Depending on what a typical day looks like for you- working from home, parenting, still heading out to your job; you might have to continue putting the time in to get dressed. Perhaps your business on the top and casual on the bottom for all those zoom calls from your living room.
Whatever the case may be I want to encourage you to take the time at least once a week to get fully dressed as you would when life was at its norm. For me I have been feeling ready to put the time and effort in on Friday’s. It is also the night my husband and I try to have a little in-home date night. Maybe you need to get dressed in a presentable way more than once a week. Whatever feels good to you is best! But, at the very least pick one day a week to invest in you and put some effort into your outfit, hair, makeup (if that is a part of what makes you feel put together). Take the times to do the things that make you feel confident, happy, and lively!
Perhaps you feel your best in cozy clothes. Sweats are your happy place. If that is the case don’t put on jeans or a dress just because. You will not feel happy. Instead, opt for a pair of sweats or joggers, a pullover or tee that makes you feel good! A matching set is always a great way to feel put together. Separates are great too! The only stipulation is that it makes you feel good. Like it or not clothing plays a role in how we feel about ourselves. Which in turn effects how we act towards others, interact with others and ourselves. Clothing can make us feel yucky, lazy, tired, blah. Clothing can also make us feel empowered, strong, happy, excited; emotions are tied up in how we dress our bodies.
So, this is just a little reminder to take the time to invest in you. While everything is up in the air and life is wonky. We can only control what we can control. Our behavior, feelings, reactions, sense of self are things we can be mindful of and how you dress your body is a piece of that.
These are a few of my current favorites for at home leisurely but still put together looks! I hope you find them inspirational with pieces you might already have in your closet.
Thanks so much for reading. Stay safe and healthy, dear friends!
