The idea that industry, government and the FDA gives a damn about you and me should quickly be abandoned. They are promoting unhealthy foods, hiding ingredients, and lying. In addition they add “JUNK SCIENCE” to support their con game and their profits.
My patients tell me that they believe nutrition is so complicated that it makes it impossible to know what to do. Let me make it simple. What was not consumed during our development as humans should not be a major part of our diet. And, for some foods, they should not be a part of our diet at all. Our Creator gave us small amounts of sugar in ripe fruits and vegetables. These fruits and vegetable were usually always good for us. However, today we have changed wild fruits to have much more sugar and less nutrition, and continue to find ways to make the fruit or vegetable look ripe when it is not.
Now comes in junk science, which suggests that we consume 6 to 11 servings of grain per day. This serving size is not possible in real nature. Read Dr. David Perlmutter’s book, Great Brain, to see what this diet will do to your health, your brain, your aging, your wrinkles, and your weight. If you don’t, just look at history: we did not live on grains during our development. Some of the first evidence of this problem is that the mummies of Egyptian farmers, who were some of the first to eat diets high in grain, were reportedly smaller and less healthy (i.e. increased rates of joint arthritis.
Now some readers might be asking “isn’t this article about sugar?” Well, that exactly what short carbohydrates like white potato, rice, wheat and most grains become when digested. Commercial breakfast cereals should be eliminated from anyone’s diet, along with milk. Again, look at our hundreds of thousands of years of development. These foods weren’t there.
Here are just a few things stopping sugar will do: lower blood pressure, lower LDL (the bad cholesterol), help prevent cirrhosis of the liver, increase cognitive function, lessen depression and anxiety, help prevent addictions, improve one’s skin, lower the risk of diabetes, help prevent cancer and heart disease, help prevent tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath. I could go on and on.
In my practice, which treats jaw pain (TMD), facial, head and neck pain, sugar plays a major role. Over the years I have taken over hundreds of unsuccessfully treated cases achieving profound results when the patient changes their diet. According to recent research most disease are brought on by inflammation. Sugar is one of the most inflammatory foods you can eat. If a patient is in pain and inflammation is present, then consuming sugar is like to throwing gasoline on a fire.
