It’s been quite a whirlwind the past several weeks. Health scares that have people in hysteria. It is scary. The unknown is scary. But, the best way to tackle that fear is to take a deep breath, do our best, reach out and support one another, do our part to stay healthy, and take time to enjoy the little things—the little things like Alive Magazine!
I hope you find this month’s style column enjoyable; a space to unwind and feel lighthearted. Sometimes taking a moment to think about things like the new season of spring coming, fashion, baking, planting flowers, etc., is just what we need to feel renewed and a bit more at ease, or at the very least super excited, for the days when we can rock these looks out and about in the outside world!
So, for this month we’re talking all things floral. Florals are fun year-round. But, there’s something about florals in the spring that really brighten my frame of mind. Plus, putting on the type of clothing that’s bright and exuberant directly affects how we feel and how we engage with the world. Whether you’re going to work, heading to a luncheon, or spending the weekend out with family, florals can make their way into your wardrobe and be just the ticket to brighten your day.
A blouse with florals is a great way to add some spring inspiration to your work look. Pair it with a cropped pant. Adding another color like a forest green with your pants really amps it up a notch. If the weather is still a bit chilly, throw on a cream sweater blazer to continue with the lighter, brighter hues. Finish the look with tan snakeskin loafers and a tan bag. Have some fun with mixing prints! The patterns clash but the colors coordinate. That’s what matters. For this particular look, the top is predominantly black which ties in the dark hue of the shoe. The tan bag is just another way to keep things coordinating with the shoes.
This look just screams, “take me to an awesome weekend brunch!” Wear florals from head to toe in an awesome dress. A dress like this stands out all on its own—no need to add a jacket unless needed for weather purposes. Otherwise rock it solo! The sleeves are lovely and deserve a moment. Wear a pair of pointy-toe white booties, a long layered necklace, and a colored bag. Booties are a great option for spring, if it’s not necessarily warm enough for sandals. Plus, if it’s early spring, it may not be quite appropriate.
Finally, keep things super casual with a denim floral print moto jacket. Phew, that was a mouth full for one item! But, seriously, how awesome is this jacket? Wear it with a classic white tee and cropped denim. Add some edge by wearing black leather sneakers and a black backpack. Love how the edgy kicks and trendy bag balance out the feminine jacket.
That’s it for now! Hope you’re all staying safe and healthy. As always, stop by maccarose.com for links to these looks and more on fashion.
